If you're visiting from SITS, welcome! I'm thrilled to have you here.
I started this book blog not long after I got my Kindle. Having been a complete bookworm as a child, I started having problems with my eyesight in my late teens, which basically stopped me from reading normal books. And if you've ever looked at your local library's large print section, you'll realise the choice is aimed squarely at 70+ women, with not much (i.e. nothing) for the scifi & fantasy geek. The ebook revolution really has revolutionised my life, and now I usually have my head in a book on the train, the plane, in bed, while cooking... you name it, I'm probably reading. I have about a decade of not-reading to catch up on!
I enjoy a mixture of speculative fiction, gentle murder mysteries, high-octane thrillers, intelligent chick-lit, historical drama, travel narrative, and foodie non-fiction.
Would you do me a favour and recommend your favourite book in the comments?

My recommendation is: The Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks. I have to warn you though, the cover art is super cheesy and the books themselves seem to be geared toward a teenage boy and not a 30 something mom like me, but honestly, I loved them! Shhh...you'll keep my secret right? Happy SITS Day!
Hopping over from SITS! Happy SITS Day! :)
I love my Kindle Fire! It's a wonderful thing. :)
I can recommend a few things for your reading pleasure. :) First is my favorite author: Mary Higgins Clark. She writes mysteries. Her daughter, Carol Higgins Clark, writes mysteries, too, and sometimes co-authors with her mom, but she's not quite as good in my opinion. Another good book that I like is Lightning by Dean Koontz.
I'm glad you were able to find a way to read again. :) It's always a wonderful thing to be able to do what you love.
I hope you have an amazing day!
Congrats on your SITS day, Rachel! You've probably already read my all-time favorite: The Lord of the Rings. ;)
Happy SITS Day to you! I love my Kindle.
what a great concept ... i can't wait to start reading your reviews (& the books!). thank you for sharing, & enjoy your SITS day!
Happy SITS day! I'm a huge kindle fan - it's my best friend during my lunch break! As far as my favorite book, well that's a trick question because I have a few! I loved A Confederacy of Dunces, Three Guineas, The Satanic Verses, Forever, She's Come Undone, The Year of Magical Thinking. Currently Ready Margaret Atwood's The Blind Assassin and I'm pretty sure that's going to be a new favorite!
Congratulations on your SITS day. I hope it's a great day for you.
My favorite book is The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. I also enjoyed the major dystopias of the 30s and 40s: 1984, A Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451. I'm on Goodreads if you'd like more reviews.
I have a chronic headache. Some days my vision is too blurry to read. Because of this I've almost entirely switched over to audio books. I love them! The selection is fabulous and there are some great readers.
Happy Sits Day, enjoy all the comment love... gonna go check out all your book reviews now! :)

Happy SITS Day! Have a great one!
Congratulations on your SITS Day! I hope you are able to enjoy every minute of it.
I have an iPad and love being able to take books everywhere I go and not have to carry around the "books". Although I love libraries, and the smell of the books, so I miss that.
Here are a couple of good reads I recommend, both are available as ebooks.
11/22/63 by Stephen King. Not scary like Carrie.
Let's Pretend this Never Happened by Jenny Lawson (aka The Bloggess) I laughed so hard I almost got some puppy pads to sit on in case I peed my pants.
I just realized my library has ebooks the check out. Have you ever done that?
Found you through SITS day and LOVE your blog! I'm always looking for my next good read. Thanks!
Happy SITS Day. I am actually an ex-book worm, books have been mostly replaced by reading over 400 blogs a week!
Narrowing it down to only one favourite book is impossible! The first one that comes to mind is The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, I loved that one. Recent ones I've enjoyed include Brooklyn by Colm Toibin, and Time and Again by Jack Finney.
Happy SITS day!
Happy SITS Day!
I turned to an ipad for the very exact reasons - and digital magazines because I could zoom in and now I'll never go back!
Hard to narrow a book to just one - but I'll mention one that changed me a bit when I was growing up. It's called "She's Come Undone" by Wally Lamb. Great read about a girl written by a man.

Happy SITS day!
I'm getting an ereader soon and can't wait to get into reading more. I've been slacking since I don't have room to always drag a book around with me.
My favorite book might be Beach Music - Pat Conroy. And my favorite author is Janet Evanovich.
Upon following you on twitter and seeing your photo, I realized we are Goodreads friends :p
Happy SITS day! So hard to pick one favorite book. Fiction is my favorite but I also like memoirs a lot, which is what I've been reading lately. A few great reads I'd like to mention are "The Way the Crow Flies," "A Patchwork Planet" by Anne Tyler, and "Blue Diary" by Alice Hoffman.
The Bible
Happy SITS day! I have so many favorite books, most of mine are classics though. In fact I'm powering my way through a list of 100 classics as we speak! (Thank you Kindle!) But my most recent favorite (at least for today) has to be "Great Expectations" by Charles Dickens. But if you are going for more contemporary classics, you can always learn something new from "To Kill a Mockingbird!"
good luck, and I'm excited to hear what you read next!
Hope you're having a great day! I love murder mysteries - esp. all of the Agatha Christie books. I also love the Benni Harper series by Earlene Fowler. And for very light reading I enjoy the Virgin River series by Robyn Carr.

Happy SITS Day! I recently read The Dressmaker by Kate Alcott. I loved it - especially since I'm kind of a Titanic nerd. I'm in love with pretty much any type of historical fiction.
Love fellow bookworms! I recommend Carole Radziwill's What Remains and Alison Smith's Name All the Animals (both memoirs).
Congratulations! Have you read 50 Shades of Gray? All of my friends have read all three books and loved them.
Well I went to a book review luncheon yesterday and every book they described sounded like something I would want to read. Now if I could only find the time... One that really caught my attention is The Paris Wife by Paula McLain - historical fiction about Ernest Hemingway and his first wife, Hadley.
Hope you are having a great SITS day!!!
Happy SITS Day!
The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson. Happy SITS day to you!
Happy SITS Day! Wow, I have so many favorite books. Long-time favorites are Pride & Prejudice and Persuasion by Jane Austen, Theophilus North by Thornton Wilder, and Possession by A.S. Byatt. The non-profit I work for also has a book club for human rights books. All the books have been fabulous! http://www.theadvocatesforhumanrights.org/book_lists_and_discussion_guides.html
Happy SITS day. I have a ton of fav's, but one of my all times is probably, "Someone Knows My Name" Lawrence Hill. Enjoy. I look forward to your review of this very good novel.
My favorite book is Linden Hills by Gloria Naylor. I read it when I was way, way too young to understand it, but loved it then and still do now.
AWESOME! I love this. I have too many favorites to name just one. Right now I am reading a heart-wrenching but amazing novel - The Brief, Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz. I see why it won the Pulitzer but, wow, it's intense! Definitely going to subscribe to your site. Happy SITS day.
Always looking for a good book. interested in your reviews. I have a few favorites. hard to pick one. Happy SITS day!
It is far too hard to choose a favorite. I love "Lamb: The Gospel according to Biff, Christ's childhood pal" by Christopher Moore, "The Wednesday Wars" by Gary D. Schmidt, "Spindle's End" by Robin McKinley, "The Sparrow" by Mary Doria Russell and "The Power of One" by Bryce Courtenay to name just a handful. I'm excited to read "A Discovery of Witches", it looks great and I enjoyed your review. I'm excited to have found your blog!
I'm in love with my Kindle Fire. It literally goes with me EVERYWHERE!!!
Happy, Happy SITS Day!!!
Hi! Happy SITS day for yesterday! I'm reading kid's fiction at the moment. :D I'm doing a review with my 12-year-old. I told my 15-year-old son that I think I prefer novels written for kids and he groaned. He's past the fiction stage. In fact, he has always enjoyed non-fiction like history and biographies. Have a great day!

Congratulations on your SITs Day, and on having such a wonderful selection of different titles and authors to browse through. My own interests tend towards older books - such as Ficino, Homer, Terence and stuff - so I won't make any recommendations for you to review! but it is always good to have ideas for newer works too.
My favorite book ever is The Cider House Rules. I love John Irving. He's so long winded but I never get tired of his stories. INFINITELY better than the movie, despite my love for Michael Caine. Happy SITS day, even though I'm a day late and a dollar short! :)
Awww, that made me so sad to think of someone who loves reading having such a difficult time finding good books to read! I am so glad you are now able to read to your hearts content! oh and Happy SITS day! As for my favorite book... oh, I don't think I could narrow it down to even 5! I love to read! However, I would guess if one book stuck with me throughout the years, it would be Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" (and then the series, but the first was by far the best.) I read it some 15 years ago, and it is still with me in my heart!!!
I'm going to give the name of my fav. author -- I just can't pick one of her books! :) I love Kim Harrison -- her series with Rachel and Ivy (a witch and vampire).
Happy SITS day!
Great finding your blog through SITS. There's no way I could narrow down all of my book favorites, so I'll just mention a few good books I've read recently. I recommend "Expecting Adam" by Martha Beck and "The Last Letter from Your Lover" by JoJo Moyes.
Found your blog on my first visit to SITS (today, housebound by Sandy). I generally like stories with "girl heroes", detective novels, sci fi, some vampire novels (don't much like gore),and other stuff as it comes along. I often pick up weird books (my habit, as a teenager, of picking books for their titles). Currently reading The Witch of Portobella by Paulo Coelho and Winkie by Clifford Chase. Before that, I Married a Communist by Philip Roth.
I look forward to visiting again, to see what else I could be reading. Thanks.
